The leadership and motivation camp organised for the first time by the First NS Area Training Wing was held on the 4th to 7th June 2009 at the Akademi Pembangunan Belia Malaysia (APBM) Pasir Panjang Port Dickson. Among the main objective of this camp is to enhance creativity and leadership and at the same time build a foundation of relationship among SJAM members from various divisions. 103 members from SMK St. Paul, SMK Tunku Ampuan Durah, SMK Tunku Ampuan Najihah and SMK Dato Sheikh Ahmad participated in the camp. The organising team lead by A/S/O Sia Pei Shan comprised of 10th combined members and selected divisional committee members successfully carried out the four days camp.

Day 1 (4th June 2009)
Members and committee members assembled at SMK St. Paul before departing to the campsite at 2.00pm. Attendance was taken and camp T-shirts were distributed to the campers. They were also briefed on the Camp Regulations, followed by allocation of sub camps. There were 10 sub camps namely: Death Note, Alien, One Miss Call, Ghost Rider, Drag Me To Hell, Underworld, Friday the 13th, Silent Hill, Ju-on, Coming Soon. By 4.00p.m., members arrived at the campsite.

During the Ice-breaking session later that night, all the sub camps took turns to introduce themselves. The members enjoyed
themselves and began to make friends with those of other schools. Supper was provided at 11.00p.m.

Day 2 (5th June 2009)
The camp was officially declared open by our State Commander YBhg. Dato’ Goh Siow Huat represented by Deputy State Commander YBhg Dato’ Loh Kim Heong at 9.30a.m., also present were Mr. Philip Chew, Mr Padi Singam, Mr Yap Kar Hong, Mdm Teo Sook Hong, Dr. Low Kwai Siong, Area Staff Officers and Teacher Advisors.

After the opening ceremony, members assembled for Kayak. Experience trainers briefed the campers on the method of Kayaking and the possible
dangers they will encounter. Everyone was highly excited as they enter the sea for the water confidence course before proceeding to kayak.

After Dinner, committee members dressed up for the Alice in Wonderland activity. Campers clad in pyjamas took part in various station games.




Day 3 (6th June 2009)
After the morning exercise and breakfast, campers participated actively in the station games. The highlight of the day was the campfire held at the campsite compound at 8.30p.m. The Campfire was officiated by Camp Commandant A/S/O Sia Pei Shan. Themed “Hawaiian Night”, members and committee members dress in their best beach outfit. Committee members put up three excellent dance performances, ranging from musical to Hip Hop and Hula Dance. Members occupied themselves with songs, dances and games until 11.30p.m.


Day 4 (7th June 2009)
Mr. Lai See Ming, Chief of Staff (Operations) gave a talk on Leadership at 8.00am. In the talk Mr. Lai emphasised that it was important to learn and adapt to changes. He also touched on the significance of team work and effective communication skills.

The closing ceremony was held on the final day at 2.30pm sharp. Our Area Commander Mr. Philip Chew declared the camp officially closed and presented the prizes to the following:

Best Sub Camp Leader        : Tan Chin Chun
Best Camper (Male)              : Nelson Tan Seng Guan
Best Camper (Female)          : Goh Li Mian
Best Sub Camp                      : Sub-Camp 10

All members left the campsite at 5.00pm with fond memories.
