The First NS Area organized a Cadet Camp as one of the activities for its 35th Anniversary Celebration. The camp was held from 18th -21st December 2007 at a National Service Camp, Kem Seri Perkasa Mantin. There were 163 participants and members were charged RM60 per head. Five Divisions participated in this camp, namely, The 10th Combined Division, First Seremban Ambulance Cadet Division, First Seremban Nursing Cadet Division, First Seremban Combined Cadet Division and Second Seremban Combined Cadet Division.Y.B. Dato Hon Choon Kim was the patron for this camp and the advisors were Area Commander Mr. Philip Chew, Deputy Area Commander Mr. Padisingam and A/S/O Mr. Ng Hwa Chuan.

Tuesday (18th December 2007)
The campers assembled at the SJAM NS Headquarters. All members departed to the campsite at 8.00am sharp. By 9.00a.m., members arrived at the campsite, their attendance was taken and camp T-shirts were distributed to them. The members were briefed on the Camp Regulations, followed by allocation of dormitories. There were 10 sub camps namely: Naruto, Maple, Mickey, Spongebob, Spider 5, Fantastic 4, Doraemon, Pokemon, The Incredible and The Bee. The camp was officially declared open by our State Commander Dato’ Goh Siow Huat represented by Deputy State Commander Mr. Loh Kim Heong at 2.30p.m., also present were State officers, First NS Area Officers, Teacher Advisors and parents.



After the opening ceremony, a talk on Fire Fighting and Prevention was conducted by the Mantin Fire Department. Dinner was provided at 6.00p.m. During the Ice-breaking session later that night, all the groups took turns to introduce themselves. Supper was provided at 11.00p.m.

Wednesday (19th December 2007)
Members were ready at 6.30am for the morning exercise which was conducted by the activity masters. Following breakfast, there was a general inspection on the dormitories.

Campers were then ushered to the National Service pond for the Water Rescue Course which was conducted by National Service Trainers. After the course, the members returned to the campsite, some activities were carried out to test the members’ abilities. A Map Reading Course, also conducted by the National Service trainers was held later that day. After Dinner, Leaders and Assistant Leaders dressed up for the Mr. and Mrs. Night.

Thursday (20th December 2007)
After the morning exercise and breakfast, campers participated actively in the Creative Mind Games and Station Games. A Footdrill Competition was held later the evening. The highlight of the day was the campfire held at the campsite compound at 8.00p.m. The Campfire was officiated by Area Commander Mr. Philip Chew. Also present were Deputy Area Commander Mr. Padi Singam, Area Treasurer Mr. Yap Kar Hoong and Area Staff Officers from First NS Area. Members occupied themselves with songs and games until lights out at 11.00p.m.


Friday (21st December 2007)
The closing ceremony was held on the final day at 10.00am sharp. Our Area President Y.B. Dato’ Hon Choon Kim represented by Mr. Yee declared the camp officially closed and presented the prizes to the following:

Best Sub Camp Leader   : Nassmin Amanda Bt. Mohd Nor Azam
Best Assistant Leader     : Yan Chan Hao
Best Camper (Male)        : Nuradlie Zuhailie Bin Jafri
Best Camper (Female)    : Nor Atiqah
Best Sub Camp         : Sub-Camp 6

Y.B Dato’ Hon Choon Kim pledged a donation of RM5000 for the camp.
After the Closing Ceremony, the members jointly cleaned the campsite. Lunch was provided at 12.00p.m and by 1.00p.m all members left the campsite with fond memories.
