Blood Donation Campaign 2009

A Blood Donation Campaign organised by the St. John Ambulance 10th Seremban Combined Division of the First NS Area was held on the 7th & 8th of March 2009 at Jusco Seremban 2. This campaign is developed to encourage members of the public as well as members of St. John Ambulance Malaysia to help the needy and at the same time to increase awareness about the importance of and need for blood donation.
     

In addition, the Blood Donation Campaign supported by National Blood Centre and Jusco Seremban 2 aims to foster lifelong blood donors.
SJAM Chief-of-Staff (Operations) cum Hon. Secretary General Mr. Lai See Ming officiated the event at 11am, also present were Dato. Loh Kim Heong, Deputy State Commander, Mr. Phillip Chew, First N.S. Area Commander, State officers, Area officers, members from the school divisions and Ms Gemma Mullick, Communication and Training Coordinator from the Order of St John Secretariat, London.

 

A total of 293 volunteers came forward to donate blood. However, only 196 pints of blood were collected while 97 registered donors were rejected mainly because of low haemoglobin level, high blood pressure, active medical problems etc.
A total of 20 volunteers pledged to donate their organs.

10th Seremban Combined Division of First NS Area wished that this event can be carried out annually to nurture more blood donors from the public to help the society.
